Review 2011
EXPOLINGUA Berlin 2011, the 24th International Fair for Languages and Cultures, took place from October 28. – 30, 2011 in the Russisches Haus der Wissenschaft und Kultur in Berlin.
132 exhibitors from 26 countries were represented at the language fair. Over the three days, 13,247 visitors gained information on 50 languages.
In cooperation with the association of German language travel agents (FDSV), EXPOLINGUA Berlin focused on language learning abroad and provided first-hand information on language travels. At the FDSV stand, the association informed visitors about what to look out for when choosing a language study trip as well as the general quality guidelines. A range of other exhibitors also provided information on all the options for learning a language abroad.
In addition, amongst the exhibitors at EXPOLINGUA Berlin, German and foreign-based language schools, language-travel operators, tourist boards, exchange organizations, embassies, cultural institutes, tourist boards and publishing houses were represented.
Taking place at the same time, a lecture programme involving around 80 contributions also attracted a great deal of interest. Experts gave information on subjects such as language tests and careers using foreign languages. The numerous mini language courses were particular crowd-pullers, during which visitors could try out Chinese, Finnish, Arabic and Sign Language.
